One week after Team Moleurz (Movember + Voleurz) was formed for the purpose of growing some stellar moustaches to help raise awareness and funds for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer, stubble is forming in all shapes and sizes and donations are beginning to pour in for the team. Team Moleurz’ all-star line up includes Jeff Schmuck, TJ Schiller, Josh Bibby, Mike Riddle, Matt Margetts, Joe Schuster, KC Deane, Reed Speedman, Darren Rayner, Bruce Giovando, Drew Lederer, Dan Brown, Cam Schuster, Jan Schuster, Jeff Boake, Justin VDP, Braden Dean, Barry Hartman, Tyler Holm, Billy Mitchell, Michael Rayner and Mathieu ‘The Intern’ Soumet, along with four new members: Empire Attire’s Brian Schroy (who’s already raised $510!), Poor Boyz Productions’ Charlie ‘Chunk’ Grinnell, and the infamous duo of Spencer ‘Brownspy’ Watson and Pat Fucking King from PYP.

Because cancer sucks and mustaches rule, the Voleurz Family has come together to form a Movember team, suitably named “Team Moleurz” (Voleurz + Movember = Moleurz).

During November of each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of mustaches on thousands of men’s faces in Canada and around the world. With their “Mo’s”, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer.

On our way to banff we hit up canmore for a skate session with Beau and Tyler throwing down. We ended up hitting up the dancing sasquatch two nights in a row. We had an awesome crew for our fashion show premiere night. Everyone partied hard and was super stoked to check out the vid.

Jay Shogy hooked it up for us with some awesome hotel rooms. The staff kept on asking us if “we were in the band” .. i guess we all looked more haggard and partied out than we thought. Going to a house party after the premiere with our bartender Joey, doing keg stands and not getting back to the hotel till 4:30am. whoops.

As usual we rolled into Vernon seeking temporary refuge at Rebak’s and Ryan Beatons place. A family dinner was promptly devoured as we all piled into the RV for a quick trip downtown to the premiere. The highlight of that quick trip was Ty shotgunned a beer through a spicy ketchup chip bag. Vernon is never a town to disappoint and this would be no exception as old friends and new came down to the Rockhouse to party hard.

What seems like much longer than ten days ago we once again piled into an RV and hit the road for the annual west coast premiere tour. Like always, tour memories are hazy. Random elements of clarity reveal themselves.. human sized “kitties”, impromptu guitar sessions, spur of the moment jiffy marker tattoos, and 960 Cariboo beers demolished.

The premiere went off and we ended up going to a local gentlemen’s club afterwards where we celebrated Reed Speedman day of birth. He ended up falling in love with a nice woman named Karmella Anthony.. who stole his heart and quite possibly his wallet too.

Despite having some technical difficulties with sound and having to synchronize by pressing play on two dvd players at the same time the video was well received and many shot skis were had by Voleurz family members and others alike. The morning after we saw the invention of the cat song thanks to Reed’s purchase of a cat half balaclava.

Calgary premiere

We were lucky enough to be able to present our video at this years Freshtival and meet up Jeff Schmuck, Rob Huele, Charlie Grinnell and other snow industry friends. We presented an all ages premiere during the day, ending with the usual party-our-pants-off at the bar with some people we know premiere. Highlights include Tyler farting into the microphone when Darren was introducing the movie, crazy bums asking us for money and another late night kitty appearance by Reed Speedman thinking the entire sidewalk was his litter box.

Fernie
Within minutes of rolling into fernie the mini-ramp was being skated and tacos eaten much to our stomaches dismay when Adam invited us to play dodgeball with the locals. We ended up taking game two and then just barely lost game three. Apparently Disney was filming snow dogs 2 in town because most of the streets were decked out in fake snow and weird ornaments.

A well deserved “thank you” thanks goes out to Cariboo brewing for keeping sobriety to a minimum, and Line skis and Faction skis for the swag and prizing!

I’m sitting at home, the night before tour, enjoying the many comforts which will soon be forgotten. Finding photos for this post has jogged my memory of tours past. The traditions we’ve created the people we’ve met and the many memories we sometimes wish we could forget. I then think how stoked and lucky I am to go hurtling down the trans canada in a 35 foot RV with seven other people for the better part of 12 days. In lieu of saying anything meaningful - see you on tour.

Each year when Autumn has just opened its doors, the stars align in a little place where, “the beer flows like wine and beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano”, to spotlight the action sports industry’s most recent film releases and give every ones liver a reason to vacation for the remainder of the year. This celestial phenomenon is known as “The Meeting” in Aspen Colorado.

With the spirit of long time Aspen resident and gonzo journalist, Hunter S. Thompson, in their hearts the Voleurz crew descended upon this small mountain town to share their knowledge of the blackzone and premiere their most recent full length video “Thats Fine”. This little clip documents the action from the D&E Fashion show to the epic screening at the top of Aspen MTN…..Enjoy!
